About Fidel Falls
Ethiopic characters fall from the top of the screen and you must type the correct romanisation before each character reaches the bottom. The game trains the connection between the visual form of an Ethiopic character and the sound it represents, which is the core skill needed for reading Amharic fluently. Difficulty increases as the game progresses and characters fall faster, so the challenge grows alongside your ability.
When a character appears, type its romanisation using your keyboard. For example, the character for "li" would be typed as "li". Correct entries clear the character; missed ones cost a life. Your score reflects how many characters you cleared successfully. A key reference panel at the bottom shows all mappings so you can check while you learn. This game is most effective after you have spent some time with the Ethiopic alphabet and have a basic familiarity with the Fidel grid.
